Various newby questions

  • Hi all,

About to start the adventures journey of match betting. However, after reading a lot and watching youtube videos I am left with a few questions.

    1. Planning to start with an initial 300 – 400 budget and I guess the majority of funds go to the exchange. Now, after having done a few offers I guess I not always win the lay bet so funds in the exchange go down quickly and funds with bookies increase. Do I need to constantly add new money to the exchange keep going or is there a strategy?

    2. I read it’s not recommended to withdraw from bookies and instead keep the funds there to indicate interest of future activity. Now, what happens when you get mugged? Would funds with that bookie be lost or do I always have a right to get my balance returned? Seems to be a major risk to me.

    3. With more and more accounts there is more and more money sitting somewhere I theoretically own. However, I deem a profit only realised when back into my bank account, so when is it a good idea to withdraw without creating too much attention of match betting?

    4. Is there a regulatory body to check if a bookie has a proper licence to operate so I not sign up to fake websites? Is there some protection in case a bookie goes under similar to FSCS protection for banks?

    5. Once signup offers are done and I am waiting for reload offers, what can be done to stay active but not be instantly identified as match better? Can you do arbitrage bets, should some be available, to mix things up or should you do small bets of a 5er should odds for back and laybet be exactly the same? Seen that this might happen from time to time so with same odds nothing would be lost but activity is generated in the view of a bookie.

    6. Planning to use Revolut soley for all bet activities (not a main account). Should I use everytime a new virtual debit card or stick with one, guess the latter is less suspicious? Any problems with Revolut? High street banks would probably stop all payments as suspected fraud so can’t be bothered spending hours on the phone to fraud departments and think Revolut is a bit more lenient.

Would be fantastic to hear some opinions and experiences of how you handle this?

    Cheers!

My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Just in terms of bankroll and accounts, you’ll find you have to keep topping up your bookmaker accounts initially (because your back bets will typically lose) but eventually you will have a few big wins and then things will manage themselves. I found once I got over £1000 in my exchange accounts and over £200 in a bookie account, I rarely needed to top up.

On the subject of withdrawals, I used to take money out frequently when I first started out. But then I got gubbed by most bookies. These days I don’t bother – and touch wood I haven’t been gubbed recently. If you do get gubbed, then absolutely you can get your funds out without any trouble.
