Cancel a lay in Smarkets
-
Hi guys,
Layed a bet on Smarkets but then had my back bet not accepted (max I could bet was WAY below what I had already layed. To cancel the lay, I placed a bet on the “back” in Smarkets, but now both amounts show in red. Please help.
Original lay £24.00 @17.0 – liability £384.16
Back was showing 7.2 on Smarkets. So far I have had £42.58 matched at 7.2. (Now cancelled as I got nervous)
The numbers in red are -£19.57 /-£113.96What do I need to do to get rid of any existing liability as I don’t understand where I currently sit. Many thanks

New to matched betting?
My Matched Betting Academy is the best place to get started. Learning the fundamentals takes 10-15 minutes and you’ll make £15 in the process.

Which market and why is the difference between the back and lay so large? With that you’re going to take a loss regardless.
Can you confirm how much you were aiming to get matched on the back side at 7.2 before you stopped at £42.58?
+0Roughly I believe you’re aiming for a back of £56.50 but you still lose £33 whatever the outcome.
+0Don’t know how to relieve your issue, but always back before laying!
+0The calculator on the site below allows you to calculate the back stake if you have laid first.
https://www.backlaybettingcalculator.com/
Also, if you have an iPhone there is an app called ‘sport trading calculator’ by Bruno Pereira, which has a lay/back and back/lay mode.
You should have staked £56 for £33 loss like Beh said.
