Logging in issues

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has experienced the following:
I forgot my password and ended up getting my account locked for too many incorrect guesses after trying to use the password reset tool.
Once my account was locked out, none of the links appeared to be working within the site. I cleared my history, cookies etc and magically the website started functioning for me again. Is this some kind of security measure.
Anyways i have re-registered with a diff email address and everything seems to be as it should
